Ignition Coil, OEM Delphi – M54, N20, N26, N51, N52, N54, N55, N62 and S55

OEM Delphi ignition coil for 2003-current E82, F22, E46, E90, E92, F30, F32, F82, F80, F82, E60, F10, X, X3, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 BMWs (see fitment notes below). Ignition coils play a vital role in the performance, efficiency, and health of your M54, N20, N26, N51, N52, N54, N55, N62, S54, and S55 BMW engine. Each cylinder gets its own ignition coil for optimum efficiency. A bad coil will result in misfires, rough running, stumbling, poor fuel economy, loss of performance, and other engine issues. Also, unburnt fuel will shorten the life of catalytic converters and O2 sensors, making for a more expensive repair in the future. Diagnosis of misfires and rough running almost always starts with the ignition coils.

The same coil design has been in use since 2003 with many updates along the way. This is the current OEM coil, made by Delphi, and replaces previous ignition coil part numbers 12130148594, 12130390064, 12131712219, 12137523345, 12137548553, 12137551049, 12137562744, 12137571643, 12137594936, 12137594937, 12137594938, and 12137594596. BMW is constantly releasing updated versions of their ignition coils to eliminate misfires and rough running engine complaints. Note that ignition coil brands should not be mixed together. Either buy a complete set or buy individual coils that are an exact match for your existing type.

Note on 2006 3 Series: For 2006 model 3 Series 4 door sedan produced up to and including 3/2006 production date, we recommend using the part number 12137594936 which better fits the early (pre-4/2006 production) 2006 E90 models. This note applies to 4 door sedan/wagon for the 2006 model year only. 

S54 E46 M3, MZ3, Z4M note: BMW has changed their preference on S54 ignition coils, now recommending this Delphi brand over the previous Bosch 12137594937 part number (as of August, 2018). We have used both and feel that one is not any better than the other.

N54 135i/335i/535i/1M note: this ignition coil was previously listed for 2007-2010 135i/335i/535i and 1M but BMW has released a different ignition coil for the N54 models. Click here for BMW part number 12138657273.
UPDATE June 2018: it appears that BMW has now returned N54 to the list of approved applications for this 153 part number. We have used both and feel that one is not any better than the other and perhaps BMW felt the same way.
